Homeschool High School

“The aim of education should be to teach students how to think, rather than what to think, and to improve our minds so as to enable us to think for ourselves, rather than to load the memory with thoughts of other men.”
Albert Einstein (1879 - 1955)

About HSHS

Homeschool High School, usually referred to as HSHS for short, is an Omaha Nebraska based support group and networking resource for families who are homeschooling through the high school years. In the spring of 2002,
homeschooling dad Dr. Mark Greenwell and homeschooling mom Sarah Cahill discussed the pressing need for a unified high school level homeschool support group in the Omaha area, where families can go to find a 'one stop resource' for their homeschooling adventures...within a few months, Homeschool High School was born! Like every group, HSHS started small with about 25 families interested in a cooperative networking community for area high school families. Soon, more and more resources, co-ops, classes, and community service were made available for parents and teens. Now, HSHS has blossomed into a large group that averages 200 families and many fantastic volunteer coordinators!

HSHS has a passionate focus of assisting other homeschool families through the endlessly rewarding yet sometimes overwhelming high school years. We do this by providing parental support and encouragement as well as a wide variety of social activities, community service opportunities, and academic classes for homeschooled teens. We have a monthly Teen Games Night, National Honors Society, awesome (and fun) community service projects, Debate Team, Girls/Boys State, Model United Nations, and much more! For parents we have fantastic workshops, transcript seminars, and multiple opportunities to network with other area Homeschool High School families. We are always looking for new ideas, and we welcome anyone who is interested in volunteering their time to help HSHS continue it's growth!
