Awesome Area ResourcesNebraska Department of EducationMetropolitan Community College Omaha Homeschool Learning Center Nebraska Department of Education The Nebraska Department of Education is your first stop on the road to homeschooling in Nebraska. The two women at the Exempt Schools (Homeschool) division are helpful and friendly, and will answer any questions you may have about navigating the surprisingly simple paperwork required to notify them of your decision to educate your child at home. Metropolitan Community College Nicknamed “Homeschool High” in the homeschool community, Metro Community College has collaborated with HSHS on numerous events that reach out specifically to the homeschool community and its high school students. From dual enrollment (college credit while in high school) to Career Academy and early entrance college credit, Metro is working hard to meet the needs of Metro area homeschoolers! For information about what Metro has to offer for your homeschool journey, please contact the always enthusiastic April Winans by phone at (402) 738-4627 or email her at awinans@mccneb.eduNOSPAM. (remove NOSPAM from the address). She is a vocal supporter of homeschooling and HSHS sincerely appreciates her hard work and dedication to helping our students succeed! Omaha Homeschool Learning Center Jack Donnelly, a veteran homeschool dad, realized the need for a centralized location where homeschool co-ops and classes could take place for all ages and grades. This would hopefully lighten the taxi services of mom or dad and simplify activities to one or two days a week, with multiple offerings for many age groups. Mr. Donnelly also encourages Metro Community College (where he is an English professor) to pursue all available opportunities for homeschoolers in the Omaha/Metro area. His efforts in furthering the opportunities for homeschoolers are greatly appreciated! |
